Frank J. Serra, Jr.

Retired Lt. Col. Frank J. Serra, Jr., 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at his home in Rosedale, MD. Frank served in the United States Army during WWII where he was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. After the war, Serra joined the Baltimore City Police Department where he worked for 30 years and retired a Lieutenant Colonel. Frank married Florence V. Grue in 1949 and was happily married until Florence passed away in 2008, months shy of their 60th anniversary.

Frank is survived by his daughter Deborah L. Gebhart; his daughter Valerie A. Reich; his son Frank J. Serra; his grandchildren Ryan and Ricky Reich; Jeremy, Emily and Gregory Gebhart; Frank and Steven Serra; his great-grandchildren Logan, Ethan and Mya Reich; Grace Kneller and Abigail Serra; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at Garrison Forest MD Veteran Cemetery on Wednesday at 11:30am. Visiting hours will be held at the Connelly Funeral Home of Essex, 300 Mace Avenue on Tuesday 3-5 and 7-9pm.
